Self Contained Golf Resorts

As the coastal courses became built-up, developers looked for new opportunities. They started building golf resorts – self contained secure complexes with professionally designed courses and all facilities on site. They chose land in undeveloped, rural locations - uncrowded and unspoilt areas. And property owners are now buying here.

Unlike the coast, large-scale and high-rise building is prohibited in country areas because of the different categorisation of land. In some coastal regions land has been classed as "urban" allowing developers to build huge complexes with high rise apartment blocks and little green areas.

But inland, most of the land is classed as "rural", restricting large scale building. Where developments are permitted, the number of projects are restricted, the height of buildings are limited and a huge proportion of the development must designated as green areas.
